  • I am proudly roasting here in the United States the coffee that is produced on my family’s farm in Brazil, in the city of Serra Negra. The farm is a very special and magical place for my whole family, that’s where my 3 daughters spent almost every weekend when they were little, that’s where my wife and I got married, and that’s where the whole family gathered, especially when we returned to Brazil to visit them.
  • In addition to being a wonderful place, the Farm produces very high quality coffee, which annually wins awards in recognition of purity and quality, in addition to being one of the few certified with the Rainforest seal that certifies good practices in the cultivation of crops and in the management of activities of the farm, including with respect to employees.
  • I believe it is very important to deliver a quality product at a fair price, and above that it is important to demonstrate that the practices applied in the farm’s cultivation are of the highest standardorce in the strictest cultivation standards.
  • {COFFEE THAT DOESN’T NEED CREAMER} – Yes, really! Why is our coffee so smooth? First, we only grow Arabica beans, which are known for its amazing flavor and aroma. Second, through years of developing the farm and its planting process we are able to consistently harvest coffee beans that are award-winning and rated as Specialty-grade. Lastly, we roast in small batches and this medium roast is smooth yet full of flavor
  • {FROM OUR FARM TO YOUR CUP} – from our family’s farm in Brazil to your home. Enjoy this single origin, single estate coffee for breakfast, afternoon coffee, or evening treat, our coffee is grown with love and taken care of during the entire harvest process through the roasting of the green beans outside of Atlanta, GA. Direct trade coffee and fair-trade coffee with Rainforest Alliance and UTZ-certification

Coffee farm in Brazil

Our Story with Coffee

It is hard to imagine our lives without travel. We wouldn’t be living life as we knew it if it weren’t for our collection of boarding passes. Having collectively traveled to almost 100 countries, we knew we wanted a life of adventure together.

Our story involving coffee starts in 2013 when we jumped on a motorcycle and sped out of the massive city of Sao Paulo into the surrounding countryside. With Murilo piloting, he took Christine up steep and dusty roads to meet his parents for the first time at the family coffee farm, the Fazenda Sant’ana in Serra Negra.

No stranger to off-the-beaten path travel, Christine was in awe of the beauty and simplicity at the coffee farm, only a few hours from the city center.

As a newly dating couple, weekends and holidays were spent at the farm with family and friends, always relieved to step out of the car and breathe in the fresh air of the coffee farm. One of the highlights in the fazenda-routine was the afternoon coffee which would include warm, homemade cake and strong brewed coffee right from the farm.

Weeks turned into months and the relationship developed. After Murilo proposed in 2014, selecting the wedding venue was a no-brainer.

This was a subtle ploy to spend even more time at the farm. Meanwhile, Murilo’s family was transforming the farm into a state-of-the-art operation creating efficiencies in cultivation, production, and harvesting of the coffee plants while simultaneously retrofitting the functioning farm to an event space suitable for 300+ wedding guests.

When the big day arrived, the setting could not have been more picturesque with rolling coffee fields as far as the eye can see in every direction. A small chapel named after St. Ana (Sant’ana) was the site of the official ceremony and then the reception was a melding of both American and Brazilian traditions.

Murilo serenaded Christine with a samba-version of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ to the delight of the guests, regardless of nationality. Caipirinhas (made with the unforgettable Brazilian liquor cachaça) were served, but the midnight snack was still cheeseburgers and French fries (just missing with the apple pie!). The wedding favors were personalized packages of Fazenda Sant’ana coffee, that guests took back home to the States and brewed for themselves. Future visits back to the US entailed luggage jam packed with bags of Fazenda Sant’ana coffee for “repeat customers.”

After some time, we were ready to relocate back to Christine’s native country. Toting 9 passports and 10 boarding passes, we arrived to our new home in Alpharetta/Milton, GA in 2018. However, we missed the signature coffee from the Fazenda and decided to start experimenting with home roasted coffee for ourselves. Murilo dove into the experience, roasting in pans, toaster ovens and maybe even ruining a popcorn popper or two in the process.

He continued immersing himself into techniques and attending technical trainings so he could learn the science while he perfected the art of coffee roasting. Those same friends and family who enjoyed the coffee as wedding favors came clamoring for new and updated roasts that Murilo was working on.

In early 2020, we decided it was time to take the plunge and offer his roasts not only of Specialty Coffee from the Fazenda Sant’ana, but from some other of our favorite travel destinations as well.

Coffee bloom

Carefully grown and health coffee plants translates in better and consistent flavor.

Arabica coffee trees are able to self pollinate, meaning that unless they are knocked off, the flowers will always yield fruit.

Coffee cherry

It takes up to nine months until the fruits are ready to harvest.

The cherries start out green and develop a deep color as the fruit matures.

Green/raw coffee beans

Most coffee cherries contain two seeds, which face each other inside the berry, becoming flattened surface on one side as they develop.
