What to Avoid Putting in your Garbage DisposalAvoid gritty items like coffee grounds (in large quantity), fibrous items such as asparagus and corn husks, potatoes, egg shells/onion skins (since the membranes can stick to the sides of the disposal and wrap around the shredder ring), citrus peels (they can dull the blades), and uncooked or liquid fat (the fat will build up and clog drain pipes). |
