Who We are
For our family the pursuit of gut health dates back to 1981, when Pat and Rita Mediratta opened three health food stores in Southern California. Commonly used ingredients in Ayurvedic medicine, a holistic healing practice developed in India over 3000 years ago, were not being leveraged in the US. They got to work in the back room of the stores using Psyllium Husk, a dietary fiber long known for its healing properties, and developed Colon Cleanse. The product was an instant success! Colon Cleanse went on to help define the cleanse and detox category in the US.
Today, Health Plus looks very different than it did 40 years ago. The most important things about our business, however, have not changed.
